Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an OpenAI account?
Yes. The plugin uses your own OpenAI API key to generate link suggestions. Create a free account at platform.openai.com, add a small credit balance, and paste the key into the plugin's Settings tab. Your content is analyzed by OpenAI and is never stored on BlueSoup servers.
How much does an AI scan actually cost?
Very little. Using the default gpt-4.1-mini model, scanning a typical blog post costs a fraction of a cent. Scanning an entire 50-page site typically costs under $0.05 total. You pay OpenAI directly — there is no per-scan fee from BlueSoup.
Does it work with Gutenberg and the Classic Editor?
Yes. The plugin reads and writes the saved HTML of your posts and pages directly, so it works with Gutenberg, Classic Editor, and any page builder that stores content as standard WordPress post content (including most Elementor and Divi setups).
What happens to my internal links if I cancel?
Nothing — your links stay. Every approved link is written directly into your post HTML. Cancelling your subscription or deactivating the plugin does not remove any links you have already inserted.
Can I use it on client sites?
Yes. The Pro plan covers 1–3 sites. The Agency plan covers up to 100 sites, making it ideal for WordPress freelancers and digital agencies managing multiple client installations.
Will the plugin slow down my WordPress site?
No. All AI processing runs manually from the WordPress admin, only when you choose to scan. There is no frontend JavaScript, no continuous background processing, and zero impact on your visitors' page load time or Core Web Vitals scores.
Which AI model does it use?
By default the plugin uses gpt-4.1-mini, which balances quality and cost extremely well. You can switch to any OpenAI model (including GPT-4o) in the plugin Settings tab if you want higher accuracy at higher cost.
